To Do List - Summer 2023

Welcome!

Below is a list of things that new students will need to do before joining us at Caltech in September. The items listed below are organized by due date, and required items are noted as such. Please don't forget to look ahead to begin working on deadlines that may be coming up. Feel free to contact the Deans' Office if you have any questions.

After you activate your Caltech account (detailed instructions will be emailed), you will be able to log into Canvas here or via http://access.caltech.edu and find the required Writing and Math placement tests. Chemistry, Math & Physics Advanced placement tests will be posted to your Canvas Dashboard later when they open. Please note the CS placement test will not be available on Canvas, but instructions and contact information are listed below.

Please be sure to check your Caltech email and check back regularly for updates.

May 31:

  • Activate your Access.Caltech Account - Instructions will be emailed to you. (required)

JUNE 1:

  • Start using your Caltech email address!

  • Make an appointment with your primary care doctor/provider if you have questions or need to get the required immunizations, if you do not have your immunization records or if you need assistance with the tuberculosis questionnaire form. medical forms

JUNE 15:

  • Deadline for incoming students to register with CASS for housing accessibility accommodations for fall 2023-24

  • Math 0 General Start Date – Information will be sent to your Caltech email address

JULY 21:

  • Complete Student Patent and Computer Software Agreement (required) & Student Multimedia and Distribution Consent (recommended)

JULY 24:

  • Chemistry Advanced Placement Test Due (optional) by 11:59 p.m. PDT. Due within 24 hours of downloading the exam
    Testing window opens Monday, June 5. Log into Canvas for test details.

JULY 31:

  • Health Forms Due (Required - All New Students)
    Contact: Student Health Portal or call (626) 395-6393
    (Messages> New Message> I want to send a message about my Health Forms, Immunizations, Medical Records )

AUGUST 1:

  • Complete Pre-Registration Information Form – survey will be sent to your Caltech email address in mid-June.

AUGUST 15:

  • Bursar's Office - Review your Welcome Letter and Bursar Documents. Contact: bursar@caltech.edu

AUGUST 17:

  • Enroll in or Waive Caltech Student Health & Dental Insurance (Required - All Students) Information and instructions for Caltech Student Health & Dental Insurance for 2023-24 will be available in July.

SEPTEMBER 1:

  • Deadline for incoming students to complete the registration process with CASS to ensure academic accommodations are in place for the start of Fall 2023-24.

SEPTEMBER 25:

  • Avoiding Plagiarism Module Due (Required - All New Students)
    Check your Caltech email for instructions beginning September 1.

SEPTEMBER 26:

  • AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Modules Due (Required - All New Students)
    Instructions will be sent to your Caltech email.
